 1"][bt_bb_text]\nSummer Winds Exhibit\nMembers Only\n\nSummer Winds will t
 ransport you to your favorite vacation spot\, remind you of a pleasant sum
 mer evening with friends\, or place you within a torrent storm that perhap
 s ends with a prismatic display of colors. Whatever your memories may be\,
  Summer Winds will offer a variety of creative and inspiring artwork.\n\nO
 ur featured artist during this exhibit is C. Mercedes Walls\, a founding m
 ember of MAL.\n\nMercedes Walls’ path as an artist has been nurtured sin
 ce childhood. Studying art and counselling at Washington College\, Chester
 town\, Md and SUNY Stony Brook\, she holds a degree in sociology. Followin
 g ten years as a Probation-Parole officer\, she has worked full time in he
 r studio for over thirty years. A signature member of the Delaware Waterco
 lor Society\, a Delaware By Hand Master Artist and a founding member of th
 e Mispillion Art League\, she exhibits widely in the region at galleries\,
  art centers and museums. Favorite mediums include water color\, pastels a
 nd oils. While her work is representational\, she’s not interested in ac
 hieving photographic realism. Selecting and often combining mediums to sui
 t the subject matter of a moment in time. She uses texture\, color and com
 position to recreate what was felt in that moment. An active advocate for 
 the arts\, she has been appointed to the State of Delaware Arts Council\, 
 served as a jurist for the Delaware Regional Scholastic Art Awards\, taugh
 t art for Community in the Schools and Salavtion Army’s Creative Hearts 
 program. Other joys are teaching art to children and adults at area art ce
 nters\, illustrating children’s books and working closely with individua
 ls on commissions to make their visions come true.\n\nDrop off dates for a
 rtwork: Saturday July 15\, 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday July 16\, 11:00 a.
